Group members at RSPB Otmoor reserve with binoculars, telescopes and cameras

A Warm Welcome from the RSPB East Berks Local Group.

Our group was formed over 40 years ago, to promote the RSPB's objectives and to raise money for the RSPB.

We organise outdoor events for people who enjoy bird watching, nature photography, building their bird lists, or who just delight in countryside walks. The pace is slow, the distances short. Good company with plenty of opportunity to socialise as well as viewing the birds. At the end of a walk, we often visit the local pub for a drink and a bite to eat. Over the course of a year, we see a variety of animals, plants, fungi and insects, plus around 170 bird species. Future events can be found here.

Our indoor meetings start with local news and group announcements. Then a guest speaker starts an illustrated talk, followed by a refreshment and chat break, a raffle and the remainder of the talk. Subjects tend to be travelogues around distant exotic lands including tourist subjects as well as the birds and animals. There are also talks on British areas and non-travelogue subjects. Nothing too heavy or very technical. Future meetings can be found here.

Our local area is centred on Maidenhead. This Thames Valley area covers parts of South Bucks and East Berks. The area's towns include Ascot, Beaconsfield, Bourne End, Burnham, Cookham, Datchet, Eton, Farnham, Henley-on-Thames, High Wycombe, Marlow, Slough, Twyford, Wargrave, Windsor, Winkfield and Wooburn Green.

With around 160 members, we are an active, lively and friendly bird watching group that supports local conservation issues while also aiming to enjoy ourselves.

You can get in touch with us by attending one of our meetings, via our Facebook Page , or by emailing us.
