THREE BIRDERS IN THE BUSH by Jill Carey

Date: Thursday 22 March 2012 at 19:30

Flock of Budgerigars in the Australian Outback

Jill is an excellent local speaker and active RSPB member.  She described a birding trip, with two colleagues, across northern Australia from Broome to Brisbane including the Red Centre, the heart of the Outback. She showed us many photographs of the amazing birds of Australia. The most fascinating by a short head was the bower bird the male of which goes to extraordinary lengths to attract a mate. I had always  thought the bower was the nest but this is, apparently, not the case. A fascinating talk given by a speaker with an excellent sense of humour
