Meet at 9.30 am in the Wheelwrights Arms car park off Little Hill Road, RG10 0TR

The pub car park entrance is at OS SU786716, Lat/Long: 51.4385, -0.8698   Free parking

Due to the high cost of parking at Dinton Pastures (£6 for four hours), we have arranged free parking at the Wheelwrights Arms. After our walk, you may wish to spend a little time in the pub, for a drink or a bite to eat.

There are toilets in Dinton Pastures. There are also toilets at the pub once it opens at midday.

There are seven lakes and three public hides.

Expect to walk about three miles, no hills, mainly decent paths, except along the Loddon where it can be muddy. We shall walk around the main lakes, including a visit to the Lavell's Lake Local Nature Reserve.

Dinton Pastures country park was created from flooded gravel pits along the river Loddon. Lavell's lake is a separate nature reserve at the northern end of the park. Expect to see 40-50 species of waterfowl and woodland birds, perhaps including stonechat, kingfisher, water rail, red-crested pochard, goosander, goldeneye, smew, bittern or lesser spotted woodpecker.
