The reserve car park is to the north of Ellingham Drove next to Tern Hide, the car park to the south is for the education centre. Car parks are open 9 am - 4:30 pm. We meet at 9.30 am outside the education centre. This Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust reserve is free but a donation of £4 is suggested.

Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve is 360 acres of grassland and woodland surrounding flooded former gravel pits. There is also a stream flowing through ancient oak and beech woodland. Wildlife is very diverse.

There are six hides, five viewing screens, many lakes, five miles of rolled gravel footpaths, bird feeders, toilets, no food but two nearby pubs.

The lakes will have wildfowl and a variety of gulls. The woodlands should yield the normal woodland birds.

A warden's daily blog entries covering early March mentioned seeing the following - gadwall, pied wagtail, grey wagtail, meadow pipit, water pipit, black-necked grebe, oystercatcher, redshank, goosander, goldeneye, brambling, siskin, redpoll, great spotted woodpecker, green sandpiper, lapwing, chiffchaff, shoveler, Bewick's swan, smew, black-headed gull, common gull, Mediterranean gull, great crested grebe, little grebe, mute swan, robin, jackdaw, treecreeper, chaffinch, great tit, black-tailed godwit, white-fronted goose, Canada goose, greylag goose. We won't see all of these!
