NEW YEARS DAY MORNING
at Little Marlow Gravel Pits

Date: Friday 1 January 2016 at 10:00

Details:

The weather was very mild for the 1st January. We had had a considerable amount of rain and the path round the lake was rather muddy.

The path through the wooded area was too muddy, as trees have been taken out for safety reasons and will be replanted with native trees. We avoided that part of the walk.

As usual, a good number of people (29 in total) turned up from partying to see many birds.

It was pleasing to see a small group of Goldcrest (eight in total) and at least four Kingfishers.

There were plenty of ducks, including Gadwall, Wigeon, Shoveler, Shelduck, Tufted and Pochard.

The total number of species seen was 57, which is about average for Little Marlow.
