Weekday and Weekend Walks, and Weekend Coach Outings

Our programme of bird watching events, including coach trips, is open to everyone, you do not have to be a member of the Group to attend.

If you are new to birdwatching then you are especially welcome. There are always enthusiasts on hand who are pleased to help you find the wildlife, to let you look through their optics and to assist with bird identification.

About Our Walks

About Our Coach Trips

Walks are Free. You may have to pay for parking or admission at a few locations.

We run short local walks, taking just a morning, and day-long walks further afield. Our emphasis is on a pleasant bird and wildlife watching experience, taken at a gentle pace. After the walk, we often go for a warm drink, chat and snack.

Join us on our visits to top bird watching sites. You will meet fellow birders, perhaps improving your knowledge and identification skills, or discovering good places to pursue your hobby.

Outdoor trips can involve a good deal of walking if you wish to explore the whole of a large nature reserve. It is important to have suitable footwear and clothing. Weather can change quickly at any time of the year and some reserves are in exposed locations.

Walks start and end at the location's car park. You have to make your own way there but once you get to know us, car sharing may be possible.

Our outings are a great way to meet friendly, like-minded people in our area while learning more about birds and wildlife.

Walks may have to be cancelled at short notice if weather conditions are extreme (not just a bit of rain). Cancellations will be notified on this website. If you feel a walk may be cancelled then you can check with Brian Reeve the previous day.

Click on the buttons below for more information about each walk, or contact Brian Reeve on 01628 680810.

Trips are priced individually. If you are not an RSPB member, there may be an additional reserve entry charge.

The coach leaves promptly at 7am and usually returns between 7pm and 8pm. The coach takes two to three hours each way and we make comfort stops en route.

Pick up point is the lay-by in front of the entrance to Braywick Park (Braywick Sports Ground), Braywick Road, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 1DX (click here for a map, SU892798).

Free parking is available in Braywick Park - through the entrance, turn right at Stafferton Lodge.

Seats must be booked and fully paid for at least one week in advance, whilst early reservation helps us guarantee the viability of booking the coach. Cheques payable to RSPB please. All money will be refunded should the trip be cancelled.

Some destinations have a snack bar or cafe at a visitor centre. Nature reserves can be large so a packed lunch may still be advisable.

The coach has room for large items such as telescopes, tripods, picnic hampers and large camera bags.

Coach trips may have to be cancelled at short notice if weather conditions are really extreme, such as flooding. Cancellations will be notified on this website but if you are still worried then please check with Helen Pearson the previous day.

Coach trips only - for bookings and any other details, email Helen Pearson ,  or call Helen on 01628 639648 and leave a voicemail, or see Helen at our meetings.
